Behind the Scenes

Joe

Woodworker and framer

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Joe's love of nature and the outdoors brought him to rural Pennsylvania in the early 1980's, where he settled in the quaint, historic town of Wiconisco. Primarily a self-taught woodworker, Joe's educational credentials include the Streets of Brooklyn University and the School of Hard Knocks, as well as an associates degree from Bond Business College, El Paso, Texas. His 34+ years of service in the US Navy, Annapolis, Maryland and the Pennsylvania National Guard round out his education and life experience.

After retiring from the military, Joe wanted to do art shows with his artist wife, Chris. He got the idea of making rustic tables featuring small wildlife images painted by his wife. The table idea did not work very well, but painting wildlife on wood did. And so an entirely new venue was added to the Walnut Street Studio line of artwork.

Joe tends to shy away from the limelight, choosing instead to focus it on his wife and her paintings. He states that, after spending a lifetime in the military, he has " absolutely no artistic ability" and, when asked about his contributions to the business, states, "I drive the truck."

our feline staff

No artist or art business can function without the endless, invaluable, "behind the scenes" work done by the support staff. Our small group is hardworking and faithful in all their endeavors. We greatly appreciate their boundless enthusiasm, love, loyalty and all they do to improve the quality of our lives, which in turn, improves the quality of our work.

Molly

"the Mother"

Molly has been very enthusiastic at quality control.

Nothing escapes her watchful eye.

Unfortunately, Molly passed over the rainbow bridge this summer. We miss her so much!

But we know Angel Molly is still watching over us , carefully checking that our work is still as best as it can be.

We love you Molly! And miss you so much!!

Bailey

Apprentice

Bailey is the newest addition to our support staff.

As of now, she is under strict supervision as she serves her apprenticeship. When she learns not to chew the artwork, she will graduate to more responsibilities.

Update--

Bailey has progressed nicely in her apprenticeship.

We no longer have to worry about her chewing our masonite panels or knocking over wet paintings with her extra-long tail.

She now assists in loading and unloading the artwork in to and out of the truck on its way to and from art shows. She is also very adept at cleaning up any 'snack debris' leftover from the shows.
